The real world is suddenly ambushed by rifts that threaten to spill out monsters from the VR game “Chronicles of Arcana.” These rifts can only be closed by “players,” people who have awakened as their in-game characters with all the same stats and skills. The chosen ones. The heroes who will save humanity.
Unfortunately for protagonist Lee Hoyeol, his awakening is the opposite of cool. His avatar happens to be the one he made during the height of his awkward phase in middle school. The edgy name. The cringey phrases. The embarrassing mannerisms that haunt his memories.
The world needs a hero. The world gets a guy who talks like a bad anime villain and poses like he is in a music video from a decade ago.
Hoyeol is desperate to hide his past. He does not want anyone to know that the person saving their lives used to roleplay as a dark lord in middle school. He tries to act normal. He tries to sound cool. He fails every single time.
But despite the cringe, he is powerful. His stats are ridiculous. His skills are overpowered. And the monsters that threaten humanity have no idea they are being defeated by the world’s most embarrassing gamer.
Just how will he go on to become the hero humanity needs most?
