After being sealed away for 1,000 years, the War God Duan Yuxian has come back to a world that has forgotten him and his malevolent past. The martial world that once trembled at his name has moved on. New factions rule. New heroes are worshipped. The War God is just a legend that parents tell their children to scare them into behaving.
He wanders aimlessly through the central plains, a man without purpose in a world that no longer remembers him. The weight of a millennium presses down on him. His enemies are dead. His allies are dust. Everything he fought for is gone.
Then he comes across a dying little girl named Xiaomei. A child abandoned by a world that does not care. He revives her out of pity, an impulse he did not know he still had.
Although they try to live in peace as a family, the factions of the martial world refuse to let them be. They see the War God as a threat. They see Xiaomei as leverage. They try to take what little happiness he has found.
Now Duan Yuxian has no other choice but to remind them that the War God has truly returned. The man who once made the world tremble is back, and he is no longer in the mood for mercy.
